Hello there!
I wanted to talk about Winter yarns since Winter is right around the corner. The yarns that I love to use in the Winter are really any, but the perfect fiber choices for the cold are more specific.
Wool: This fiber is perfect for the Winter. It keeps you warm and has a water resistance. This fiber also helps you regulate your body temperature which is essential in the cold. An alternative to wool if you have a sensitivity would be acrylic or alpaca.
Alpaca: This fiber is by far my favorite to use. It is so soft and warm. It also helps to regulate your body temperature and it has antimicrobial properties as well. If I could wear nothing but alpaca I would!
Mohair: This fiber is nice and fluffy. It is warm like wool and is known to be lighter in weight. Mohair typically comes from Angora goats. Mohair is also quite soft and luxurious feeling due to the fluffiness.
Cashmere: This fiber is known for being super soft and warm. It is light in weight. It is a more delicate fiber and needs to be taken special care of. That is why you will find cashmere blended with other fibers that are sturdier.
I hope that this was helpful and inspires some lovely fiber choices for your projects or your next purchase.
Happy Hooking!
